About Berlinettes
The Berlinettes is a performance group created by Catarina Pinto and Victoria Kreiner in Berlin in the end of 2017. Since then they performed in many stages but now they want to expand themselves as a team. It is focused in authentic swing and jazz age dances with choreography designed specially for female dancers. Its mission is to preserve, nature and promote jazz music and its authentic dances.
What is special about this dance?
The most important part of Authentic Jazz Dance is individuality. Each Jazz dancer is different and rhythm is essential in Authentic Jazz Dance. The rhythm is more important than movements you do. There is no definitive way to do movements in Authentic Jazz, but the rhythm has to be consistent.
Everything should be done to the music in Jazz dancing. When you are listening and dancing to Swing music, you have a dialogue with music. You communicate with music and you become a part of the orchestra as an instrument.
Bio troupe leaders Catarina & Vicky
Catarina and Victoria are passionate and specialist in several swing styles but their favourite activity is to perform in a team.
Catarina is natural from Lisbon where she discovered swing dance. She studied and worked as a Civil Engineer/Architect but always had a strong connection with jazz music and vintage glamour style. Since she moved to Berlin, 5 years ago, she has been performing, teaching and inspiring many dancers on the biggest stages of the city.
Victoria was born and raised in Buenos Aires where she studied and became an actress. She has always loved to dance and got inspired by different styles as modern jazz, contemporary, tango and later swing. Berlin became her performance home town, where she can express herself through the dance.
